Gloria Zavaleta

is a Charlotte based photographer who's interests in International Studies and the human condition lead her toward a future career as a War and Combat Documentarian.

"There is a fascination with the human condition. People are able to find their humanity amongst ruins of rubble, famine, disease, oppression, and constant war. How is it that by simple circumstance you, nor I, were placed in those realities? Realities in which each day the greater rest of the world lives between the constancy of survival and holding on to their compassion and empathy, their semblance of laughter and to know happiness, their ability to love and be loved; their humanity.

While incomparable, I am finding a dichotomy while photographing the Metal Culture. This music genre provides the battle field, however there is an overwhelming sense of not only humanity but community as well.”
